This policy describes what data IPSage AI ("the App") accesses, why, and where it goes. It's written to match the app's actual architecture as described in its technical documentation — update it immediately if that architecture changes.
1. Information We Access
Network connection details. To show you your public IP address and its geolocation (city, region, country, coordinates, ISP), the App sends a request containing your device's public IP address to a third-party lookup service (currently ip.freeapi.me). This request happens every time you open the app or tap refresh.
Local device/network diagnostics. The App reads your device's active network state (WiFi vs. cellular, local/internal IP address, DNS server addresses) using standard Android system APIs. This information is processed on your device and displayed to you; it is not transmitted anywhere by the App itself.
Ping test. The App performs a network ping to a public DNS server (8.8.8.8) to measure round-trip latency. This is a standard network diagnostic and does not transmit personal data.
On-device AI analysis. When you use AI Insights, your network data (as listed above) is sent to Android's on-device AI system (Google AI Edge / AiCore) running locally on your device's hardware. This data is not sent to any external server for the AI analysis — the summary is generated entirely on-device.
Local history log. If you enable the history log, timestamped snapshots of your past network checks are stored locally on your device using Android's DataStore. This data is never transmitted off your device by the App.
Purchase information. Pro Mode unlocks are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. The App does not collect, see, or store your payment details — Google handles the transaction and tells the App only whether the purchase succeeded.
2. What We Don't Do
- We do not require an account, sign-in, name, or email address to use the App.
- We do not run analytics or advertising SDKs
- We do not sell any data to third parties.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, messages, or precise GPS location.
3. Third-Party Services
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| ip.freeapi.me (or your chosen IP lookup provider) | Your device's public IP address | To return geolocation and ISP details |
| Google Play Billing | Purchase/transaction data | To process the Pro Mode one-time unlock |
| Google AI Edge / AiCore | Network data you choose to analyze | To generate the on-device AI summary — processed locally, not uploaded |
Each third party has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data sent to it; we recommend reviewing your IP lookup provider's policy since your users' IP addresses pass through it.
4. Data Retention
Local history log entries remain on your device until you clear them or uninstall the App. We do not retain any server-side logs of your IP lookups beyond what the third-party lookup provider itself retains (see their policy).
5. Children's Privacy
IPSage AI is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region) and does not knowingly collect data from children.
6. Your Choices
You can clear your local history log at any time from within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data, including history and preferences.
7. Changes to This Policy
If our data practices change — for example, if we add advertising, switch IP lookup providers, or add cloud-based features — we'll update this policy and the "Last updated" date above, and reflect any material changes in the App's Play Store listing.
